Alexandre Pavlovitch  POTEMKIN

Born in Dorogobuzh, Smolensk Oblast (Russian Federation).

We know that his father was called Paul but to date we do not know his mother’s name.

His father was a clergyman (Orthodox).

He marries Anna Ivanovna SAKHAROV.

He works in Smolensk

Birth of Emmanuel POTEMKIN.

11 October 1882

Birth of Benjamin POTEMKIN.

19 November 1884

Birth of Nicolas POTEMKIN in Belyy.

He lived in Luxemburg and Belgium. He was born on the 1st of December 1884 according to the Gregorian Calendar.

25 October 1886

Birth of Nicodeme.

13 March 1891

Birth of Marie POTEMKIN.

She lived in Rostov, Russian Federation.

November 1892

He was reported to be a Councillor at the Russian Court.

8 November 1892

Birth of Augusta POTEMKIN in Olonetz (Karelia) a town near the Finnish border.

She is our direct ancestor, nicknamed « Goutia ».

Baptised on the 14th of November of the same year.

She lived in France.

27 July 1901

Birth of Vladimir POTEMKIN in Ostër-Sourage (Russia).

He lived in Paris – He worked as a chemist for ONERA near Saclay.

28 February 1916

Birth of Irina Kalitowicz, one of his grand-daughters in Barwienkovo, Kharkov Oblast (Russia). Daughter of Augusta.

February 1917

Petrograd – Civil war, uprising, the tsar abdicates.

28 June 1922

He is in Batoum in Georgia (Russia) with his son Emmanuel.

12 & 29 July 1922

Written in two letters: he leaves Buchmonte and expresses the wish to move to Stravopol where he would like to finish his life.

6 & 19 December 1922

He writes to his son Nicolas who is in Bulgaria.

8 & 21 February 1923

From Backmatch he sends letters to his son-in-law Edward KALITOWICZ who wants to go to live in Poland, a decision he approves and that would enable his daughter Goutia and Irina – our mother – to get all back together.

He has the intention to go back to his country in May, in the area of Smolensk (Saint Krapivenskaya).

 

He is in Ostior/Oster.

4 & 7 April 1923

He is in Batoum and wants to continue his trip to Derebouge, but in Gomel his permit is refused by a Jude of the Secret Police (sort of NKVD). He turns back and returns to Darmtza.

February 1926

He does not give up on his project to go to Derebouge and says that he wants to look after his grand-children. (Which ones?).

8 & 21 January 1929

 

At last he is in Derebouge!

He learns about the separation between his daughter Goutia and Edward. He misses his grand-daughter Irina and expresses the desire to have her here in Derebouge and to look after her.

We have no information on his wife Anna Ivanovna Sakharov.

 

He dies in Backmatch, we do not know what took him back there.
